1. Introduction Shingo and Asia e University (AeU) ?
Shingo is a private company founded by Dr How more than 10 years ago. Shingo provides free consultation on early childhood education for preschool teachers. Currently, Shingo is a partner of Asia e University (AeU) with branches throughout Malaysia: Alor Setar, Penang, Klang, KL, Seremban, Muar, Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru, Miri and Kota Kinabalu.
AeU is a multinational university initiated by Asia Cooperation Dialogue that comprises of 34 countries. The university was established as the Malaysia Government initiative and prime mover to champion e-Education. AeU has trained thousand of government school teacher under the BPG program, a program to upgrade the qualification of teachers to degree holders. The teachers graduated from BPG program enjoy promotion to higher grade position and better salary.
2. What are the modes of study available at AeU ? Fully online versus blended.
AeU courses offer dual modes of study: fully online and blended learning.
Fully online students can rely on the portal to access to the learning materials and videos. All the topics or chapters are written into a text book format for easy reading by students. The students can watch the videos to enhance their understanding of the concepts underlying the subject.
For student choose blended learning, she can access to learning materials for all topics and videos available at portal. On top of that, she can attend classes once a month at a nearby location. For example, for Seremban students, the classes will be held at Summit 2 Private School at Seremban 2.
With the availability of laptop and smartphone, wide connectivity wifi and internet lines, AeU students can STUDY ANYWHERE & ANYTIME, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
2. Are the courses offered by AeU has MQA accreditation ?
All courses have obtained MQA accreditation.
3. Why kindergarten teacher needs Diploma in Early Childhood Education ?
The kindergarten teachers needs a minimum Diploma in Early Childhood because they need to have a body of knowledge that can help them to have good understanding about the behaviour of children as well as effective teaching strategies to young children. Bearing in mind each child is different, how to acquire backup knowledge to provide the right approaches and teaching to different needs of each children, this is a challenge to teachers. Therefore, by studying a Diploma in ECE, a preschool teacher will possess the necessary knowledge about the psychology of children, the development stages of children, socio-emotional development of children, teaching strategies to different needs of children.
Some teachers believe working experience is good enough. But experience is derive from observation and encountering in the past and present. And it repeat and repeat by itself. There is no new knowledge added into the experience beside becoming more skillful on something. Some experience teachers are based on guess what is right and wrong instead of based on scientific facts and research. This could lead to incorrect way of teaching.
4. What if kindergarten teacher has Diploma in other field, for example Diploma in Fashion Design ?
A kindergarten teacher needs to acquire the correct body of knowledge to apply at the right place. A kindergarten teacher is teaching children from 4 to 6 years old. Therefore, she need to be an expert in child development at these ages, she need to know various development stages of children at these ages such as physical, socio-emotional development, the intellectual and cognitive development.
In other fields, for example, a medical doctor needs to study Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS), a lawyer needs to study Bachelor of Law (LLB), and an accountant need to study Bachelor of Accountancy (BAC). The same principle apply, whereby preschool teacher needs to study minimum Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
5.0 How long does it takes to complete AeU Graduate Diploma in ECE (GDECE) ?
Following the normal pace, it takes 28 months, in other words 2 years and 4 months to complete Graduate Diploma in ECE. But the duration can be extended to 3 years or 5 years, depends on the time and financial availability of students.
6.0 How much is the total fee from GDECE ?
Total fee is RM13,305 only. The total fees include registration fee, tuition fee, assessment fee, recurring fees (admin/misc fees) including all the fees such as registration fee, assessment fee, recurring fee, tuition fee.
The fee for AeU Graduate Diploma in ECE is among the lowest as compared to many other private universities which are ranging around RM20,000.
Moreover, for intake September 2020, AeU is offering Prihatin Package with discount around RM800 for Graduate Diploma in ECE. Therefore, net price is around RM12,500. This offer is limited to intake September 2020.
7.0 What are the financial assistance available ?
For those have scored 3 credits in SPM, you are eligible to apply PTPTN loan and EPF withdrawal. AeU also award merit scholarship for best result student each semester. The recipient will be waived one semester tuition fee.
8.0 Why should I study at the age 30 plus, 40 plus, 50 plus ?
The technology is changing fast. Look at smartphones and laptops, there are new added features and capabilities at each new versions. Recently, Samsung launch ultra 20 notes that have 5G capability, equal or more power than an computer, amazingly powerful for a small size phone.
Online teaching and learning, online education become a norm during MCO.
Live streaming at facebook, youtube and other social media become a trend whether for leisure or business.
All these new development emphasis on the important of lifelong learning to catch up with ever changing technology and business environment.
Upgrading qualification is very useful to those want to improve their life in terms of getting more knowledge and higher income.
